If they wrote a will then the ‘executors’ named in the document will be in charge of distributing the persons belongings.
If no will was written, then a close relative can apply to deal with the estate. This is done via the Probate Court. Entitled relatives can apply for a ‘Grant of Letters of Administration’ which, when issued, confirms them as the rightful ‘administrator’. In certain cases, more than one administrator will be required.
Amanda Grenough Solicitors and Probate
We understand that dealing with probate matters is often the last thing on your mind when a loved one has died. That is why we are committed to offering a well-organised, professional and sensitive service, to make your life easier at a difficult time. Our probate service can help you resolve any queries about the administration of estates quickly and simply.
Probate Application Only Service
We offer a probate application only service which allows us to apply for the Grant of Representation for you. This could speed up the application process and means you will not have to attend an interview at the Probate Registry. To provide this service, we need:
- Details of any assets and debts connected to the estate
- A copy of the will (if there is one)
- The death certificate
We can then begin the application process. We will also complete the Inheritance Tax return for you. Once the process is complete, the Grant of Probate will be sent to you. You will then be able to deal with the rest of the estate yourself.
How We Work
We can offer you a friendly and professional service using clear communication. We will listen to you carefully so that we give you a service that suits your needs but will also help you understand what your position is by using plain language to explain everything instead of legal terminology.
